Core Values

Seek First the Kingdom (Matthew 6:9-10)

We treasure God above all else, trusting that when we seek His kingdom and righteousness first, everything else we need will follow. As we keep Jesus at the center of our lives and ministries, He transforms hearts, unites our efforts, and brings lasting change to our city for His glory.

Share the Gospel (Romans 10:14-16)

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to hear about Jesus and respond to His love. As we share the good news of His life, death, and resurrection, we trust God to transform hearts, save, and draw people into His family.

Serve the Least of These (James 1:27)

We reflect Jesus’ compassion by caring for those society may overlook—whether lonely, poor, or hurting. Through humble acts of service and heartfelt love, we believe God restores dignity and brings wholeness to broken places.

Share Generously (Luke 21:1-4)

We offer what we have with open hands, trusting that every act of giving can spark hope and change. Like the widow who gave her all, we believe a sincere heart and a willing spirit can make an eternal impact.

Start Churches (Ephesians 3:10)

We believe the church displays God’s wisdom to the world, so we invest in forming and strengthening new churches. In these gatherings, Jesus is worshiped and God’s Word is taught. Here, believers participate in Spirit-empowered ministry and unite in God’s mission to make disciples of all nations.

Support Workers (3 John 1:8)

We stand with those called to serve, whether pastors, missionaries, or everyday disciples, by offering wholehearted prayer, resources, and encouragement. As we partner in their labors for the gospel, we multiply the reach of God’s kingdom near and far.

Our Leadership

The Greater Austin Mission Society is an organization built upon voluntary association. We desire to live out the priesthood of all believers in our shared mission, and also recognize the unique gifts the Holy Spirit gives to each person in the body of Christ. In different seasons, leadership will evolve and change, but in this founding era, a core team is taking the vision and strategy forward.

Dr. Todd Engstrom - Executive Director

After nearly 20 years of leading in the local church and an intense season of suffering and change, Todd emerged with a continued burden from the Lord to reach all of Austin, and the basic ideas that will shape the Greater Austin Mission Society.

He is married to his wife Olivia, raising five kids, and has called Austin home for over 20 years.

David Cervenka - Kingdom Catalyst

After a challenging relocation from overseas field service, David came to north Austin for rest and healing. He has remained faithful to the task of making disciples and starting churches. He will serve the Greater Austin Mission Society catalytically, with a focus on evangelism and church planting.

He is married to his wife Danielle and they have three children. They live in the far north portion of the metro area, but serve disciples and churches all over the city.
